Immersion with Jess

Yesterday group 5 had their final rotation and now we are working with Jess. With Jess we are working on drama, performance and creativity. Some of the activities we did were describing what drama was and describing what creativity was. After that we played some games that had a lot to do about drama. The first game we played was called "Whoever Has", what we had to do in the game was everyone was in a circle on chairs and one person would be standing in the middle and what they had to do was say "Whoever Has _______" and say something that people have done. For example the person in the middle would say "Whoever has shoes on", and everyone with shoes on would get off their chair and find another chair and the person standing in the middle had a chance to get a chair. And so there would always be someone in the middle that could not find another chair in time because they would all be taken. The second game we played was called "What are you doing...

Immersion with Helen & Nicole

Today group five had its second to last rotation in immersion and now we are with Nicole. Although we were meant to be with Nicole, she was in a meeting so Helen took over immersion for today. Our immersion today was about New Zealand history. We all got split into groups and got handed a bunch of photos that had pictures of various things like the rainbow warrior sinking ship, war and many other things. We got assigned the task of placing all the pictures in order and saying what year they were from.

Bruce Mason Theatre School Trip

Just yesterday the whole of LC7 went on a school trip to the Bruce Mason Theatre, where we met the instructors that told us they had "A fun day planned ahead". The first thing we did was we got split into two groups in which we did the same activity, but we did it in different parts, for example; One group did a play and the other group would watch. Which is what we did, but we both took turns on each activity. First of all we had the play like I said in my example where one group would practice for the other group while the other group watched a video about a field that switched between a stage and a rugby field in about 3 days. Next we did a sound workshop in which three people did a show about sound using lots of different things to make sound. After that we listened to an audio track about us being on a movie set. After that our final thing to do was a dance workshop, it started with a dance presented by two people and about halfway through a Segway came in but the Segwa...

Immersion with max

Today on Friday the 15th of September, group five rotated for the fourth time in immersion and is now working with max on putting artwork at the front of the school that was created by Tiffany Singh. Tiffany Singh is a New Zealand artist who makes art that is not on paper but that is in real life for example, she created a boat with lots of tiny boats on it, she also created an apple and some flowers out of beeswax casting and quartz.

Immersion with Liv

Today this morning group 5 in immersion rotated teachers again and now this time we are working on what signage's we might like in the school so we can decorate it more. To decide what might look good in a signage group 5 traveled to the hobsonville point high school and looked at quotes, pictures and inspirational sayings. I brought my phone to take pictures and videos and my favorite one was a quote in the library that said "Reach for the sky" which I guess means reach for your dreams.

The Seventh Heaven Task

At the start last week on Monday we got put into new maths groups, I got put in Nicole's maths group and we decided to call ourselves the "Humans". In humans, our first group task would take about a whole week of maths and it was called "The Seventh Heaven". It was a task all about 7's where we had questions like, What does the number 7 have to do with religion and What would the ones place value be in the question 777 ^ 7. And this week the humans group got another task called going around in circles which is all about circles and pi (3.14).

Ending Immersion with Jono.

Last Thursday group five started immersion with Jono (I created a blog post about that yesterday). Yesterday and Today we designed playground objects on tinkercad to 3d print. We could work in groups so I decided to work with Jake as he had objects in his playground that could be 3d printed, the objects that could be 3d printed were objects that didn't have anything hanging above it that were over 90 degrees. Jakes playground that he designed was like a skate park so we decided to make a half pipe to 3d print because it didn't have anything over a 90 degree angle. Only one thing every day could be printed so Jono had to pick the best and most simple idea, luckily we got chosen and now today our half pipe has been 3d printed. Today I created a ramp with Jake to go with the half pipe, unfortunately our design did not get chosen because it was to detailed and would take to long to design.

Starting Immersion with Jono

Last Thursday group 5 (My group) in immersion left Amy and changed over to Jono. When we where with Jono, we walked over to the hobsonville point playground (Like we did in Amys immersion), but this time we analysed what we think we would enjoy more in a playground and what might be more safe. Once done we kept the recorded the information we found into our maths book.

Immersion today

Yesterday a part of LC7 went down to the hobsonville point playground outside of school for immersion. And the day after we went around the school surveying people to see what the most wanted thing in a playground is and what the least wanted thing in a playground is. Now today we are using, the information we got from yesterday to design our own playground. The information I got from Tuesday proved that lots of people did NOT like the spinning chairs but do like flying foxes.

Adventure park Silverdale

Last Term we worked on science immersions around energy and just last Friday we went to the Silverdale adventure park for the energy immersion. It looked like heaps of fun, but unfortunately at the time I have a broken arm. Anyway the rides consisted of; The Luge, 3d Cinema, Spaceship simulator and bungee jumping on a trampoline. I can not say much about the rides as I could not do them but my friends said they where very fun
